26 Jun 2005 - National Competitions - Coventry

I have received details of the National Competitions which are taking place at Tile Hill School Coventry on 26th June. (There are details and applications forms with this issue of the View) - as the venue is so close - it would be good if we could encourage as many companies from our District as possible to take part - perhaps we could even view it as a 'District Day out' ? there are competitions for all sections and there is a choice (or you can enter teams in both) of physical or service. Teams are mainly 2 to 4 and would fit into a car ? maybe could even involve parents in helping with transport (remember to check insurance cover!). The exception is the Senior/ Brigader Netball which requires a team of seven. There is also dance for Seniors/Brigaders) teams of 2 - 3) you can enter for both but girls taking part in netball are not eligible for Dance. If anyone is interested in entering a netball team but does not have enough players ? I will make enquires whether we are allowed to enter a joint Companies team or even a District Team.



Explorer competitions are 'Helping At Home' and Skipping

Junior competitions are 'First aid' and 'Team games?'

Senior / Brigader competitions are Netball and Dance and additionally for seniors 'Crime Prevention' and for Brigaders 'Vehicle Maintenance'!!!



Entries have to be in by 25th February to Headquarters with fee's of £5 per company and £5.50 for each team entered. You can in some cases enter 2 teams for some of these categories. So how about it? Wouldn't it be lovely to see Companies in our District winning National prizes (the trophy's are being presented on the afternoon of the event) - Let me know if you are entering - we might be able to arrange to meet up at lunch time or support one another when we are free to do so.
