Chaplain's Corner
Hi everyone,
It is autumn now and how quickly the year is passing by! The autumn colours are on the trees around us, rich reds, golden browns, so different from a few weeks ago when everything was green. Life is changing constantly, yet it is really only the big changes we notice. Whenever I see a child for a long time, my first reaction (yes I know how boring) is to say 'How you have grown'. Yet those who live with the child don't really notice how much they grow day by day.
Everyone is changing all the time, we grow taller, then (some of us) grow wider and many of us grow greyer!
Some people don't really like things to change, they want things to stay the same for ever, but life is really not like that. Part of being alive is changing, God has made the world that way and He wants us to change, not just on the outside where everyone can see how much we have grown, but on the inside as well.
He wants us to change to be more like Jesus every day, to grow in faith, to become strong in Him. This is the change he delights to see in us, as we grow kinder, more loving, wiser...The Bible speaks of the fruits of Spirit (Galations 5:22) being -
'love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.'
' Like fruit grows on trees these things should be growing in our lives. We can't do this by our selves, we need God to help us to grow up in Him. So when you see the leaves on the trees this autumn, remember how life is constantly changing and that we need to change and grow too - so we can be more like Jesus, day by day. Ask God to help you change!
